About the system
The Mangrove Inspired Simple EMDR Set was developed in Australia for practitioners using alternating bilateral stimulation in EMDR based therapies. The system uses a master control box with a lightbar, two wired tappers and an optional headphone output. It does not rely on wireless technology or an external app.
What is included
- Master control box and power supply
- Two tappers and two mono audio cables
- RGB LED lightbar and one stereo audio cable for the lightbar
- Adjustable lightbar stand or tripod
The supplied cables are two metres long. Extension cables are described in the product manual as available separately.
Set up the lightbar and stand
The supplied manuals show two mounting descriptions. Check the hardware included with your stand and follow the corresponding instructions. The product manual describes attaching the lightbar by screwing it onto a ¼-inch threaded lug. The illustrated tripod guide describes a mounting plate, which may be stored in the lightbar carry case or already mounted on the tripod. In that guide, screw the plate to the underside of the lightbar and secure the assembly using the tripod’s quick release lever. Refer to the tripod PDF photographs for the plate and lever. If your supplied hardware does not clearly match either description, contact Mangrove Inspired before mounting the lightbar.
Connect and power the system
- Connect the supplied stereo cable from the lightbar to the 3.5 mm socket labelled “Lightbar” on the control box.
- Connect each tapper using a supplied mono cable to one of the two 2.5 mm tapper sockets on the control box.
- If using headphones or earbuds, connect them to the 3.5 mm stereo headphone socket.
- Connect the power supply. The green power LED indicates that the unit is powered.
Controls
- Amplitude: adjusts tapper vibration strength; the red and green indicator LEDs also change brightness.
- Phase: gradually shifts the timing of the tapper and audio signals relative to the lightbar.
- Length: adjusts and automatically centres the lightbar dot’s total travel, up to 66 cm at maximum.
- Speed: adjusts dot travel speed. Set amplitude and length first because they also affect speed; a shorter travel length or lower amplitude may allow faster movement.
- Sets rotary switch: selects 4, 20, 30, 40 or continuous sets. The manual defines one set as travel from the centre to one end, across to the other end and back to centre.
- Start/Stop: starts the selected sets or stops them at any time.
- Distract: starts a sequence of random lightbar patterns.
- Flash: briefly flashes the lightbar, audio and tappers before the current sets resume.
- Colour: selects among ten colours. While sets are running, hold the button until the desired colour appears, then release it.
